ALINE eMAR (ACCUflo) QRG - Possible Duplicate Therapies

Modified on Mon, Mar 18, 2024 at 2:24 PM

Overview

In this QRG article we will review Possible Duplicate Therapies, what they are and how to resolve them.

QRG - Possible Duplicate Therapies

Possible Duplicate Therapies are now flagged in the ALINE eMAR (ACCUflo) program. ALINE eMAR (ACCUflo) considers an order a possible duplicate if there is more than one therapeutically identical medication of the same strength, with a different RX Number, active for the same resident.

Note: Accuflo does not stop the administrations of these possible duplicates - only warns the user of the possible duplicate therapy.

Possible Duplicate Therapy warnings are found on the Orders screen (Possible Duplicate Yes or No); on the Order Detail Screen; on the medication tile when it is displayed for administration; and on the Possible Duplicate Therapies screen via Maintenance

Flag on Medication Tile

If a user sees this and does not have permissions to research the possible duplicate in order maintenance, the user should alert the manager or nurse.

Order Approval / Order Detail / Possible Duplicate Therapies

Ideally possible duplicates will be reconciled during the order approval process.  A warning label will appear on the order that indicates there is a Possible Duplicate Therapy. This should prompt the user to check for duplicate orders.

To manage possible duplicates from the order detail screen, users can select Show Possible Duplicates. ALINE eMAR (ACCUflo) will then display a prompt to Manage Possible Duplicate Therapies.

Selecting Manage Possible Duplicate Therapies will route the user to the Possible Duplicate Therapies page (also accessible via Maintenance), where the possible duplicate can be selected to determine, via order maintenance, if the order should be discontinued, (because it is a duplicate) or if it should be acknowledged. (Which means it is not a duplicate order)
